Edinburgh Bonnington Road crash leaves motorcyclist in serious condition

A 32-year-old man is in a serious condition in hospital following an accident on a busy Edinburgh road on Tuesday.

Bonnington Road was closed by police for around six hours after the two vehicle crash happened at the Anderson Place junction around 4.20pm. It involved a Pulse XF motorcycle which was headed eastbound and a Volkswagen Polo which was being driven westbound.

The motorcyclist was rushed to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary by ambulance, and his condition is currently described as serious. The 36-year-old female driver of the Volkswagen is uninjured.

Police want anyone who witnessed the crash, or has dashcam footage which could be of assistance, to come forward.

Constable James Lamb is appealing for any witnesses to the crash. He said: “Our enquiries into this crash are ongoing. We are appealing to anyone who witnessed this crash take place, or who was driving on Bonnington Road near Anderson Place at the time who has dash-cam footage to contact us.

“Anyone with information should contact the Road Policing Unit at Edinburgh through 101 with reference 2281 of February 23.”

Police arrived at the scene of the smash at around 4.25pm. A significant amount of debris could be seen on the road in the aftermath.

The road was closed from the junction with Pilrig Street for around six hours, before being reopened to traffic at around 10.30pm on Tuesday evening.
