Edinburgh beer delivery: Six places that will bring drinks right to your doorstep during lockdown

While pubs are likely to be off-limits for quite some time a number of Edinburgh bars and breweries are offering their own drinks delivery service – so you can still enjoy some of your favourite beverages during lockdown.

It's a strange feeling not being able to socialise with friends in the pub come the weekend, but you can still enjoy a few of the city's best beers from the comfort of your own home.

While a number of places already had drinks delivery services on the go before the Covid-19 shutdown, some have adapted their businesses to include a drop-off service.

Here are six Edinburgh companies currently doing beer delivery in the city – but feel free to make us aware of any others you know of.

Edinburgh Beer Factory

(Edinburgh Beer Factory/ Facebook)

Edinburgh Beer Factory are currently doing local deliveries across parts of the Lothians – although how close to their city brewery you stay depends on how quickly you get your beer.

Their Paolozzi fleet have been out and about dropping off everything from their lagers and beer selection boxes, to their Thistly Cross cider.

They've actually got a sale on right now, with their much-loved Paolozzi lager included. One not to miss out on.

For more information visit the Edinburgh Beer Factory website.

Crossborders Brewing Company

Crossborders Brewing Company, based in Dalkeith, is sending out cases of their award-winning beer by courier across the region.

They are selling cans of their Braw tropical pale ale and India Pale ale at £2.50 each. They are also doing one litre 'draught growlers' for £6.50 a time.

For more information you can check out their website.

Innis & Gunn

(Innis & Gunn/ Facebook)

I'm sure we're all pretty familiar with these guys.

Their online shop is far from a new addition, but it's still worth knowing you can get your favourite Innis & Gunn beers delivered straight to your door.

Their lager beers are available at £1.40 a can and bottle, while if you're after their barrel-aged original, or Blood Red Sky, you'll pay £1.75 a bottle.

Worth noting that they are working through a high number of orders right now while ensuring their colleagues are kept safe and socially distant. Therefore orders could take a couple of weeks.

More information can be found here.

Barney's Beer

These beers are well worth a try.

Barney's Beer, based at Summerhall, opened an online store last month in response to the Covid-19 lockdown to ensure their customers never go without.

They are doing a minimum orders of 12 bottles, with £5 delivery for orders of under £50. Orders of over £50 means delivery is free.

Among the limited edition range they are selling is their Marshmallow Milk Stout, which is interesting to say the least.

Check out their website here.

Stewart Brewing

(Stewart Brewing/ Facebook)

Stewart Brewing are delivering award-winning beers from their hop series, core range and limited edition to homes in the Lothian area.

They are also offering discounts on a number of their beers – including packages featuring the Radical Road and First World Problem beers and mixed packs of cans.

For more information visit their website.

Pilot

Pilot in Leith got their license for online sales through last month – so you can get a batch of their brilliant drinks straight to your front door.

They actually shed some insight into their operation last month, and the entire delivery effort is being orchestrated by directors doing solo shifts with no staff asked to leave their homes. They say they won't be offering any discounts so as not to undercut the shops who have supported them since the start, and because they need every penny at the minute.

They are delivering 12 packs of mix and match using APC – and their beers are well worth a try if you haven't already.
