The team at Edinburgh-based Social Bite are currently producing around 4000 essential food packs each day for those who need them most.
The group, which works to tackle homelessness in Scotland, is attempting to raise £200,000 through a JustGiving funding page with further scaling-up and food production and distribution on the cards.
Last month they "re-purposed" their entire organisation to create the nationwide food delivery service.
Since then they have been putting together packs and distributing them to homeless and vulnerable people worst affected by the Covid-19 crisis in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen, Inverness and Dundee.
However, they say that "as the crisis deepens" they need the support of the public to ramp up the service.
So far 86 per cent of their £200,000 target has been raised – a total sum of £173,798. To contribute you can visit their JustGiving page here.
Co-founder Josh Littlejohn posted: "Since Friday 20 March we have re-purposed our entire organisation to create a nationwide food delivery service - focussing on getting supplies out in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen an in recent days Dundee too.
"Our kitchens, cafes and teams have been entirely re-deployed to produce and deliver food and supplies to those who need them most for the duration of this outbreak.
"We are working with partners throughout Scotland to ensure that food and essential supplies can reach the following people – homeless people, families that were relying on free school meals and now have no access, those who have been made redundant due to the crisis and are in food poverty.
"Your support alongside that of the Scottish Government can help us to produce and distribute over 4000 food and essentials packs every day of the week for as long as is needed."
