An Edinburgh barbers has been awarded the prestigious title of the UK's Best Local Salon in a top hairdressing industry awards ceremony.
Stag Barber Co on Lady Lawson Street and in Haymarket are well-known for their charitable work throughout lockdown and took the top spot in Creative HEAD's Most Wanted Awards.
Sharing the news online the awards body said: "A beautiful bright yellow butterfly on the traditionally grey Edinburgh streets, Stag are fiercely protective of their local community - massive congratulations!".
We'd have to agree - here's what the team at Stag have been doing for their local Edinburgh community over lockdown :
- The team, headed up by Murray McRae, gave individuals who were made redundant during Covid free haircuts before job interviews.
- On the 23 of December last year, Murray dished out haircuts for 24 hours NON STOP and raised £4000 for SiMBA, a charity which supports families through the loss of a baby.
Stag also offered to gift a free haircut to a frontline or key worker for every home DIY haircut they were tagged in on social media over the lockdown period.
Stag also charge by length of hair instead of by gender and ask all customers for their preferred pronouns on booking.
Stag Barber Co. will be reopening on 5 April in line with Scotland's easing of lockdown restrictions.
