Edinburgh barbers offering free haircuts to post-lockdown job seekers

A popular barbers in Edinburgh are offering free haircuts to anyone who has lost their job as a result of coronavirus and lockdown.

Hundreds of thousands lost their employment during lockdown as businesses across the country folded and now many more are expected to feel the effects of furlough plan changes.

In a post on Facebook, Stag Barber Co. on Lady Lawson street wrote:

"We are increasingly aware that some folk have unfortunately lost their jobs during this shaky time. As the government's full furlough plan changes and eventually ends, we may see more of this.⠀

"So - if you’ve lost your job and need a haircut because you have an interview for a new one please facebook message or email us.

"Or if your financial circumstances have changed and you’d like a haircut because it'll help you feel good at a time that you’re feeling kind of low - please just facebook message or email us. ⠀

"We will sort you out, free of charge."

This isn't the barbers' first act of kindness during the pandemic - Stag also offered to gift a free haircut to a frontline or key worker for every home DIY haircut they were tagged in on social media over the lockdown period.

Stag Barber Co. will be reopening on 15 July in line with Scotland's easing of lockdown restrictions and we'll be reporting from the salon next week.
