Edinburgh bar launches 'secret' drinking domes with incredible views of the city centre

It is no secret that the view over to the castle and Royal Mile from Princes Street is pretty spectacular.

Snapped time and time again by tourists and locals, a city centre bar have now launched a set of new 'domes' so that you can enjoy the vista all night long.

Cask Smugglers this week have welcomed customers into a series of clear domes located on the top of Waverley Mall, with each giving incredible views across Princes Street and the gardens.

Available for private bookings, the domes not only allow guests to enjoy a few drinks, but have also partnered with a range of different eateries throughout the city.

The bar said: "We’ve partnered with the best in local Edinburgh food and drink to bring a range of luxurious curated packages.

"Helping us create this magical experience are our friends at IJ Mellis, East Coast Cured, The Bahn Mi Sandwich Company, WellBeing Coffee, Eteaket, Room and Rumours, Aye Pickled and Edinburgh Butter Company.

"We are really proud to have created such an incredible experience with these dynamic local producers. Vegans will no doubt rejoice at the partnership with Edinburgh based company Beetroot Sauvage, who provide an outstanding range of vegan cheeses for the Domes’ Vegan Charcuterie Board."

Able to fit up to 10 people in each dome, the pods also have a speaker inside for guests to choose what they want to listen to and connect their own device.

Sheltered from the elements outside, each dome also has warm blankets, rugs and heaters inside.

With each dome able to be hired out for a two-hour slot, the bar added:

"From a spectacular vantage point on the rooftop of Waverley station, you take in the towering beauty of Arthur’s Seat, the breath-taking might of Edinburgh Castle, and the stunning architecture of Edinburgh’s old town.

"Watch in awe as the hazy winter sun descends to magnificent sunsets, and the city’s landmarks light up under the expansive night sky."
