Edinburgh ball pit cocktail bar to host grand flair bartending competition finale

A unique Edinburgh cocktail bar will host a grand finale of a world flair bartending competition that is free to attend.

Ballie Ballerson, located at 14 Forrest Road, is the capital's only ball pit cocktail bar and will now become the stage of the World Flair Association's (WFA) spectacular bartending competition finale.

Flair bartending - the discipline in which the contestants from countries such as Argentina, Japan, Romania, Finland, and the UK will be competing - is when bartenders turn the preparation and presentation of the drinks into a show, using tricks and impressive moves.

On Monday, October 17, the bartending stars will descend to the local bar to compete for £3,500 and a WFA Black Level - and to put up a show like no other.

George Armstrong, the co-founder of Ballie Ballerson and the official host of the competition, says: "We're absolutely delighted that we can bring the final of this fantastic competition to Edinburgh this year.

"We're proud to be involved with the World Fair Association, which advocates education and competition for the profession of bartending. The level of competition has been fierce in the qualifiers, so I am sure the finalists will turn up the heat for Edinburgh."

For the first time in the competition's history, the event will be held outside of London.

Co-founder of WFA, Andy Collinson, said: "It feels great to be able to put on a WFA Grand slam event for the first time in Edinburgh.

"I'm sure the Scottish crowd will love watching the best flair bartenders in the world live on stage at Ballie Ballerson. It's going to be an unmissable event."

Sponsored by Hooch, Dead Man's Finger Rum, and Shanky's Whip Whisky, the final competition will be judged by Tony Adams, a World Champion, Simon Rogers, and Antonio Mantelli, both previous winners, who will score on Originality, Choreography and Difficulty.

You can book your free tickets to attend the spectacle here.
