Edinburgh bakery Twelve Triangles forced to close branches after devastating fire

An Edinburgh bakery has been forced to close the doors of almost all of its branches across the capital after a devastating fire in its main bakery.

Twelve Triangles are well known for their pastries and sourdough loafs - with the roads they are located on no stranger to long queues of customers keen to get their hands on the local business' wares.

However, in an Instagram post this morning Twelve Triangles - who have stores on Easter Road, Duke Street, Brunswick Street and in Portobello and Dalry - announced that some of their shops would be shutting as a result of a fire in their main bakery.

They wrote: "2021 seems to be even more of a sh**ter.

"We have had a fire at our bakery so we have a limited amount out today.

"Easter Road is open as is Portobello and Brunswick Street, but Duke Street and Dalry are closed.

"Easter Road will be open tomorrow but without sourdough and pastries but all of our shops will be shut.

"We will let you know as soon as we reopen. Thank you and sorry."

Twelve Triangles' Easter Road store operates as an essential shop as an alternative to supermarkets - stocking locally sourced and produced grocery items.

Edinburgh Live have contacted the Scottish Fire Service for comment.
