Edinburgh armed police race to local suburb to hunt down stolen vehicle

Armed police were seen in Edinburgh last night after they were called out over reports of a stolen vehicle.

Officers from both the capital's Road Policing and Armed unit had been called out to the incident on Saturday evening in Drylaw (February 19.)

According to a statement, the red Nissan Micra had been reported stolen from an address on Western Drylaw Place at around 7.55pm.

With both teams deployed, the stolen vehicle had been recovered a short time later, with enquiries into the incident now onoing.

Taking to social media on Saturday night, Road Police said: "EdinburghRP and @PolScotArmed crewed up for backshift today and recovered a stolen vehicle, just 25 minutes after it was stolen in the Drylaw area of Edinburgh."

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 7.55pm on Saturday, 19 February, officers were called to a report of a car stolen from Western Drylaw Place, Edinburgh.

"The vehicle was located by officers a short time later and police enquiries are ongoing.”
