Edinburgh Armed Forces Day 2019: Parade will close George Street this weekend

Parts of Edinburgh's city centre will close this weekend as Armed Forces Day 2019 comes to town.

A military marching parade has been organised to honour those who have served in the armed forces down the years.

The parade will start at Charlotte Square and end at the other end of George Street at St Andrew Square on Saturday morning.

There will also be a host of military charity stalls set up at St Andrew Square in a bid to raise awareness of causes and services set up to support the armed forces.

Those who go along will be able to enjoy live music performances and a trip to the Tennents beer tent. The Royal Voluntary Service will be providing the food on the day.

The event will run from 10am to 3pm – and some road closures will be in place as a result.

The City of Edinburgh Council say there will be rolling closures on George Street between 10am and 11.30am.
