An Edinburgh architectural practice is actively recruiting for at least two new people to join its team, after revenues rose by a quarter during the last 12 months.
56three Architects, previously known as Susan Stephen Architects until a management restructure in 2019 and a subsequent rebrand earlier this year, currently has 22 architects and support staff working remotely and within its Alva Street office in Edinburgh’s west end.
The practice works with landowners, developers, contractors and individual commissions across the residential, commercial and third sectors. Its portfolio includes build-to-rent, co-living, assisted living, student accommodation and affordable housing projects.
Demand from clients in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Fife, along with Sheffield, Birmingham, London and Liverpool, has now led to the practice to search for talent.
Co-director Gordon Beaton explained: “We have been fortunate to side-step the headwinds many businesses have experienced during the Covid pandemic and currently have a very healthy pipeline of architectural contracts to service.
“As a result, 56three is actively recruiting for at least two qualified architectural staff with experience of residential work and technical and design skills in this sector.”
Susan Stephen Architects was founded in Edinburgh in 2003. Following Susan Stephen’s decision to retire and step-down as managing director, long-standing equity director Gordon Beaton and fellow senior architect Richard Howl assumed control last year.
In March, the business was rebranded to 56three Architects, referring to the longitude and latitude of the Edinburgh office.
