Edinburgh workers are among the worst in the UK for pulling a sickie, according to a new study.
The research, carried out by office suppliers Viking, compared 15 UK cities to find out the most notorious liars in workplaces across the country.
They surveyed 2,000 UK workers and had some interesting results that you probably don't want your boss to hear about.
While workers in London are the most likely to tell a fib in order to take a sick day from work, the Scottish capital wasn't far behind in third place.
Over half of workers in Edinburgh admitted to pulling a fast one of their boss to get out of the 9-5.
While one of the main reasons for pulling a sickie was to go to a job interview, many workers admitted using the time off for a day trip.
Bob Huibers, marketing executive at Viking, said: " Our research reveals an interesting trend when it comes to office sickness. Many cities in the UK are feeling this growing pressure to avoid taking sick days, yet on the other hand, remain comfortable lying to pull a sickie for a hangover, to watch TV, or socialise with friends.
“Businesses should look to address this, as they stand to lose a lot of money from employees being unproductive when they drag themselves into the office whilst unwell.
"Communicating a fair policy on office sickness and encouraging employees to be more open and honest on the subject should help to promote a much healthier culture when it comes to sickness."
