Edinburgh Airport is reported to be on the verge of a sale by its private equity owners for up to £2 billion.
New York based Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP) bought the airport from BAA for £807 million seven years ago.
But weekend reports suggested that they could be about to cash in with a profit of more than £1 billion.
Edinburgh Airport has continued to break its own passenger number records, topping one million for the first time last month , as demand for travel to the capital increases and there are plans for a tech business hub there.
