Edinburgh Airport issues warning about scam recruiters stealing jobseeker money

Edinburgh Airport is warning people to on the alert to a recruiting scam.

In a statement released today, the airport reported that an agency pretending to recruit security officer roles at Edinburgh Airport is stealing the identities and hard-earned money of jobseekers.

A scam is asking people to apply the job openings, then share identification documents and pay for a security check.

The airport insisted that they would never ask applicants to do this and urged applicants to apply through official Edinburgh Airport officals.

The statement read: "We have been made aware of a recruitment scam on social media from an agency claiming to be helping find people to apply for security officer roles at the airport.

"The scam asks people to apply for posts then provide ID documents and pay for a security check - we will never ask any applicant to do this.

"We will only advertise posts on our official channels - our Careers website ( careers.edinburghairport.com ), our Careers at Edinburgh Airport Facebook Page, LinkedIn and Twitter.

"If you are unsure if a job advert is genuine then please contact our HR Team: HR@edinburghairport.com"
