Edinburgh Airport-bound British Airways plane rushes to land as passenger falls ill

A British Airways plane was seen rushing to land at Edinburgh Airport after a passenger took ill on the flight.

The BA service from London was due to land in the capital on Tuesday evening, but had requested priority landing after the person became unwell.

Air traffic control were alerted to the plane's request at around 10pm, not long after it had crossed the airspace between Scotland and England.

Thankfully, the flight landed safely at Edinburgh Airport, before the passenger was given medical assistance.

According to the Record, flight BA1460 had been able to land normally on the runway.

A spokesperson for British Airways confirmed the incident had taken place but stressed that it was not considered an emergency.

They told the Daily Record: “Our pilots requested a priority landing at Edinburgh Airport due to a customer requiring medical assistance, and the aircraft landed normally.”

Edinburgh Airport has been contacted for comment.
