Edinburgh Airport have confirmed that they will now begin to trial temperature screenings in the terminal for departing passengers.
The airport have introduced the measures in attempts to stop the spread of coronavirus as the ongoing pandemic continues.
Other major UK airports such as London Heathrow have also announced they will be taking on similar methods to stop any passengers leaving the airport potentially taking the virus with them.
Edinburgh Airport have stated that one of their main goals is to provide passengers with reassurance when flying that they are as safe and protected as can be possible at the time.
However, the airport have also confirmed that they will not be responsible for any arriving passengers, only those flying out of the capital.
A spokesman for Edinburgh Airport said:
“The biggest issue we face is the need for a common approach that will allow airports to clearly understand and follow the regulations required of them. It’s imperative that government sets out its demands so we can prepare and deliver for the recovery.

“We know that aviation and tourism has a significant role to play in Scotland’s economy and we have been planning how to meet the challenges this virus poses our industry.
"Key to that will be providing reassurance and confidence to passengers and to do that we will be introducing a range of new measures, including trialling temperature screening technology for departing passengers.”
