Edinburgh A70 crash causing travel chaos with emergency services on scene

Emergency services are currently dealing with a crash on the A70 Lanark Road West in Edinburgh.

Police are on the scene of the smash, which happened close to the junction with Newmills Road at around 1.30pm.

Footage from the scene shows at least three police vehicles in attendance along with a number of officers dealing with traffic management.

The council-run social media account Edinburgh Travel News is urging people to avoid the area if possible for the time being.

They tweeted: "A70 Lanark Road West. Police responding to an RTC at the Newmills Road junction, please approach with caution."

A spokesperson Police Scotland said: “Around 1.30 pm on Wednesday, 10 March, 2021, police attended a three vehicle rtc on the A70, Lanark Road West Road at the junction of Newmills Road.

“There were no reports of anyone seriously injured.

“Enquiries continue.”
