
DETECTIVES are investigating after a man arrived at a Newcastle hospital in the early hours of Wednesday suffering stab wounds.
Police said the man was in a stable condition after emergency services were called to Renfrew Crescent at Edgeworth about 12.10am amid reports a man had been injured.
Lake Macquarie officers established a crime scene.
They were subsequently notified a 30-year-old man had arrived at John Hunter Hospital with several stab wounds to his arms and buttocks.
Police said his injuries are not considered life-threatening.
"Police have been told the man was confronted by three people at the home before he was assaulted and stabbed," NSW Police said in a statement.
Detectives are examining how the man sustained the injuries and the broader circumstances around the incident.
Investigators are appealing for anyone who saw or heard anything in the nearby area between 11.30pm on Tuesday and 12.30am on Wednesday, or who may have footage of the area during that time, to contact Belmont police station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
