Ederson injury: Pep Guardiola in the dark over goalkeeper's fitness for Liverpool vs Man City

Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola has admitted he "doesn't know" if goalkeeper Ederson will be fit to face Liverpool on Sunday.

The Brazilian stopper was withdrawn at the interval during Man City's 1-1 draw with Atalanta on Wednesday night after a sustaining a 'minor injury'.

The 26-year-old was taken off as a precaution and subsequently was replaced by Claudio Bravo, who was later sent off for a foul on Atalanta's Josip Ilicic in the second half.

With no goalkeeper on the bench, it meant defender Kyle Walker was forced to take the goalkeeper's jersey and play the final eight minutes plus stoppage time in goal.

Because Bravo was sent off in European competition, the Chilean will be eligible to play at the weekend should Ederson not recover in time.

And Guardiola was tight-lipped about whether he would be available for the game at Anfield.

"I don't know right now," Guardiola told BT Sport after the game.

"It’s a muscular problem.

"It was a risk so we took him off as he was feeling it late in the first half. We don’t know.

"When we land in Manchester we will think about the next game in the Premier League."
