Ederson apologises to Man City teammate Eric Garcia for collision against Arsenal FC

Ederson has revealed that he has apologised to Manchester City teammate Eric Garcia for the collision that left him hospitalised.

City were two goals up and cruising against Arsenal in their first game back in the Premier League following a break over three-months when Ederson rushed out of his box to clear the ball.

The Brazilian was successful in doing so but his momentum then saw him smash into the back tracking Garcia, leaving him needing 10 minutes of treatment before being stretchered off the pitch.

The teenage centre-back, who had been impressive in just his third league start, was rushed to hospital where he spent the night but was discharged on Thursday and updated fans on his condition, saying he will rest and hopes to be back in action soon.

Pep Guardiola has confirmed that, due to Premier League protocols on concussions, Garcia will miss the next week to 10 days of action, meaning he is out of Monday's clash against Burnley and likely Thursday's trip to Chelsea.

Ederson has revealed that he has apologised to Garcia and the Spaniard understands that he had to go for the ball.

"I was talking to him just before the interview. I was unable to be with him yesterday after the match because from the stadium he went straight to the hospital and went straight to the observation. But it was just a big scare, he’s fine," Ederson told ESPN Brasil.

“He only has a small cut inside the lip. Today I talked to him, I apologised. I said it wasn’t my intention to hurt him. But there it was a decision that I had to make. But he understood well, we talked.

"He’s a boy that I like a lot, I always joke with him here on a daily basis, he knows that. So thank God he’s okay, it was just a big scare.”

When asked if Garcia lost a tooth in the collision, Ederson confirmed that that wasn't the case. He added: "No, didn’t. He has a strong tooth, because he still cut my hand."
