The £50million of levelling up funding to be unveiled this week will allow the project to move to its next phase. The cash will have to be matched by £50million from private investors and donations.

The Eden project in Cornwall opened in 2000 and two years later became the setting for the James Bond movie Die Another Day.

Artists' impressions offer a sneak peek of what the seafront venture which would be connected to the area's spectacular Morecambe Bay and its spectacular natural landscape.

Fitting in with the seaside theme, Eden Project North would include five pavilions shaped to look like mussels, each one hosting a different environment for visitors to explore.

Meanwhile, the seafront location would offer picturesque views of the landscape, while visitors could make their way down a large path right to the water's edge.

The idea is to combine both indoor and outdoor experiences, ranging from lidos and gardens, to performance spaces and observatories, alongside a plethora of immersive experiences.
