Eden Hazard's retirement plans provide timescale on Chelsea return after already teasing reunion

Former Chelsea star Eden Hazard has revealed he hopes to continue playing for another five or six years.

The 30-year-old, now at Real Madrid after completing an £83.53m move in the summer of 2019, is facing yet another spell on the sidelines with a muscle injury sustained in a training session last week.

Since leaving Chelsea, Hazard has endured somewhat of an injury nightmare at the Santiago Bernabeu, making just 35 appearances across one and a half seasons for the La Liga giants.

Injuries have stopped Hazard from performing at his best for Real Madrid on a consistent basis and last month, as reported by Football Espana, a poll taken by Marca showed that a large section of fans believed he should be dropped from the starting XI or sold.

What should Chelsea do about Kepa?

Despite this latest setback, the Belgium international insists his body feels good and has plans to continue playing until his mid-30's.

"I'm just hoping to play football for as long as possible, and I always try to enjoy myself on the pitch," he told On The Front Foot.

"When it comes to the end of my career I can look back at my achievements, but my priority now is playing well and enjoying my football.

"I don’t think about where I will be in the next few years, I try to focus on the next match and the next training session.

"I've only just turned 30 so as long as my body feels good, hopefully, I can keep playing for at least another five or six years."

Interestingly, the Belgian international has already teased a return to Stamford Bridge once he's finished up in the Spanish capital.

Back in December 2019, Blues supporter Frank Khalid caught up with Hazard whilst the winger was recovering from injury and the latter did not hide his desire to play for Chelsea again.

"When I finish here I’ll come back," Hazard said. Asked whether he has watched his old side on television Hazard replied: "Yeah when I can I watch. Not all the time.

"They are doing well, they’re young. Now they can pay for players, they can buy players now.

"I do my job here and then I come back."

Is it possible that Hazard is already planning for his Real Madrid which could coincide with him seeing out his football career at Chelsea?
