Eden Hazard reminds Chelsea it is 'possible' he could leave to join Real Madrid next summer

Chelsea forward Eden Hazard has again raised the possibility that he could look to leave Stamford Bridge at the end of the season.

The Belgium international has 18 months remaining on his contract and has been linked with both Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain, though Chelsea are desperate to commit him to a long-term extension after handing N’Golo Kante a lucrative new deal last week.

And speaking in an appearance on French TV channel Canal Plus that was broadcast one day after Chelsea’s comprehensive 3-1 defeat to rivals Tottenham, Hazard reiterated that all options remain open for him next summer.

“For now I'm staying at Chelsea,” he said. “I have one year left in June. If I don't extend, it [a move] is possible. I can't see myself leaving in January. I wouldn't do that to the club, to the fans.

“Next summer it's a possibility, but it's also possible that I spend the rest of my career at Chelsea.”

Hazard has been open about the fact that it is his “dream” to play for Real Madrid, who have harboured interest in him for several years and are expected to go hunting for a ‘Galactico’ signing next summer after failing to replace for Cristiano Ronaldo in the last transfer window.

PSG superstars Neymar and Kylian Mbappe are expected to be Madrid’s top targets, and if either depart the Ligue 1 champions could look to Hazard to fill the void – but he dismissed the possibility that he could leave Chelsea to move to the French capital next summer.

“There has been contact in the past with PSG but I haven't been tempted,” he added.

“If I have to go back to France one day, it would be to Lille. But today, there is no chance that I'll come back in the French league.”
