Eden Hazard injury blow for Real Madrid: Star out of action for three to four weeks

Eden Hazard is expected to be sidelined for three to four weeks and will miss Real Madrid's start to La Liga after picking up a thigh injury on Friday.

The Belgian attacker, who signed from Chelsea earlier this summer for €100 million plus a maximum of €30m in add-ons, went down in the last session prior to Saturday's trip to Celta Vigo.

"After the tests carried out after training today on our player Eden Hazard by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with a muscular injury to the anterior part of his right thigh," the club said on their official website.

"His recovery will continue to be assessed," they added, without giving any estimate as to how long he will be missing.

However, Hazard is likely to be sidelined for between three and four weeks, missing tomorrow's game away to Celta, plus the home match against Valladolid next weekend and the trip to Villarreal on September 1.

The international break follows and should allow the 28-year-old time to return for the home match against Levante on September 14.
