Eden Hazard handed Chelsea return boost as Zinedine Zidane and Real Madrid have injury concerns

Real Madrid could welcome back three key players ahead of their Champions League semi-final first-leg clash with Chelsea.

It's been a difficult few weeks for Los Blancos on the injury front, struggling through a number of fitness issues both through injury and a number of coronavirus cases.

Though, that's not the half of their issues of late after the whole Super League saga, which has even put their Champions League clash with Chelsea at risk.

UEFA are to make a call on that at some point today, but assuming it does go ahead, Real Madrid could be helped by the return of three key players.

Former Chelsea star Eden Hazard, who has had a torrid time since making the move to the Spanish capital, will be in line to return, training with the group at Valdebebas today.

Hazard's latest injury has already seen him miss eight games, though the winger will likely be fit to face his old club.

Zinedine Zidane has today confirmed he will even be in the squad for this weekend's game, saying: "Eden will be with us, he will be on the list (squad)."

Midfielder Luka Modric has also returned to group training after missing two games with a back injury, and Toni Kroos is back doing individual training after sitting out Real Madrid's win over comfortable win over Cadiz on Wednesday.

It's not all good news for Zinedine Zidane, however. Captain Sergio Ramos, who has been out since the start of the month, is back doing some individual training with a ball but will miss the first leg, hoping to return for the second.

Fede Valverde, who has been key for Zidane this season, is also out after being diagnosed with coronavirus. He is another who will return for the second leg, while full-back Ferland Mendy could also miss out.

Mendy still hasn't returned to training following a calf injury and he is seen as unlikely to return in time to face Chelsea in the first leg after missing the last four games.
