After an acrimonious split last summer, Chelsea fans have another axe to grind with their former goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois after Eden Hazard explained his role in convincing the winger to leave the Blues.
The two Belgium internationals had spoken about the winger joining Real Madrid to be reunited with his countryman, with whom he finished third at the World Cup in Russia in 2018.
During their time at Stamford Bridge together they won two Premier League titles, the FA Cup and the League Cup.
Hazard confirmed that he had long hoped to join Real Madrid, a club he has long admired.
"I supported Real Madrid as a child," he said at his official unveiling. "I played in France and England, but it's a journey I took to be here."
Part of that journey saw him play alongside Courtois for club and country, and Hazard tipped the goalkeeper for playing his part in convincing him to leave Chelsea.
"I had quite a few chats with Thibaut," he said.
"He said I should jump at the opportunity, it is the best club in the world."
