Eden Hazard aims cheeky dig at Spurs' trophy haul after new stadium opening

Eden Hazard aimed a dig at Tottenham Hotspur after the North London club opened their new stadium on Wednesday night - taking a swipe at the number of trophies the club has won.

The New Tottenham Hotspur stadium is now one of the biggest in the Premier League and was opened with a 2-0 victory over Crystal Palace while Chelsea beat Brighton 3-0 in their fixture across London at Stamford Bridge.

Spurs' new stadium dwarfs the Bridge - with a capacity over 60,000 it has nearly 20,000 more seats than the home of Chelsea, who shelved their own plans for a development of their stadium last year citing unfavourable investing climates.

Mauricio Pochettino's side are also above Chelsea in the Premier League table but were beaten by the side the last time the two faced each other, with Maurizio Sarri's men coming out on top.

Spurs may have the bigger stadium, but Hazard has taken aim at their trophy haul, or lack of, and hopes that the dominance of Chelsea in the silverware stakes continues.

He said: "I think Tottenham for two or three years have been one of the best teams in England. That is for sure. We are Chelsea, and it is a big derby. I don't like that to be fair but we have to accept it.

"For the Premier League it is good - new stadium, they have top players. But at the end you know Chelsea we won a lot of trophies, they have not, so I hope this continues."
