Eddy Pineiro makes the cut, in line to become Bears kicker

Chicago’s kicker competition has been at the forefront of conversation surrounding the Bears since that infamous double-doink missed field goal sent the Bears into early hibernation last January.

While it doesn’t come as much of a surprise, kicker Eddy Pineiro will remain with the Bears, according to Chris Emma of 670 the Score.

Pineiro beat out Elliott Fry in the kicker competition, but that wasn’t a guarantee that Pineiro would win the job.

Through four preseason games, Pineiro connected on 8-of-9 field goals, including one from 58 yards. Despite shanking an extra point against the Titans on Thursday night, Pineiro went on to hit on three consecutive field goals.

While other kicker options could come available tomorrow, it appears that the Bears are riding with Pineiro heading into Thursday’s regular-season opener against the Packers.
