Considering that kicker was the biggest concern for the Bears heading into this season, the fact that Eddy Pineiro is one of the few “perfect” kickers remaining in the NFL should be music to Bears’ fans ears.
Pineiro is one of five kickers who are perfect this season, with at least four field goal attempts. He’s a perfect 4-for-4 on the season. Pineiro is also the only kicker in the league that hasn’t missed from beyond 50 yards in multiple attempts this season.
Pineiro seemed to exorcise the demons of Bears kickers past with his 53-yard game-winning field goal that saved Chicago from an 0-2 start.
After an offseason dominated by Chicago’s kicker competition, the Bears have been validated in their decision to not only stick with Pineiro but to have followed through with the kicker battle.
From the Augusta Silences to booting 43-yard field goals in front of teammates, the crazy or not-so-crazy tactics of the kicker competition ultimately paid off.
At least, that’s the feeling following Week 2, where Eddy Money is still perfect.
