Sept. 07--The Bears' depleted receiving corps regained two of its key contributors Monday but remained without its top playmaker as the team began preparing for Sunday's season-opener against the Green Bay Packers.
Eddie Royal (hip) and Marquess Wilson (right hamstring) participated in position drills during the part of practice that was open to media. Alshon Jeffery (left calf), however, sat out.
Jeffery was in the locker room when reporters were allowed in after practice, but the Bears said he was not available for interviews.
Royal, meanwhile, was pleased by how his ailing hip responded to his first action in team drills since Aug. 25.
"It was a good start, and I'm excited about Sunday and hopefully being out there," he said.
Wilson practiced for the first time since he got hurt in the Aug. 22 exhibition game against the Indianapolis Colts.
"Just still a work in progress," he said, adding that he hopes to prove he can get in and out of cuts effectively.
Jeffery hasn't practiced since Aug. 11. The Bears' next open practice is Wednesday, and his status then will be a strong indicator of his availability for the season opener.
Wednesday is also the first time the Bears are required by the NFL to issue an injury report.
