Former Leeds United loanee Eddie Nketiah has been told he needs to leave Arsenal again in search of more game time.
The striker spent the first half of last season on loan at Leeds but struggled for regular football before returning to the Gunners in January and impressing manager Mikel Arteta enough to remain at the club.
Yet he has yet to displace Alexandre Lacazette up front for Arsenal and former Gunners striker Kevin Campbell says another loan spell is needed.
"Nketiah has a knack for goals but I think Nketiah needs to go out on loan for another season, playing back-to- back games to get that confidence in his own body," Campbell told Football Insider.
"Coming off the bench and playing sparingly is okay but there is nothing better than getting a run of starts to understand that you can do it at the top level.
"You have got to go through the tough parts. You need to get kicked, feel the pain and the soreness. That is what he needs to do."
It comes after Nketiah spoke up his time at Leeds United.
Speaking to Alan Shearer at the Athletic, the 21-year-old says that, despite his lack of game time, he has no regrets about his time at Elland Road.
"It felt like the right place for me," he said. "The manager was a big plus as well. It was a project, a chance to be part of something special, bringing Leeds back to the Premier League after so long.
"Looking back on it, I have no regrets. I learned a lot and I pushed myself to an extent I probably hadn’t done before. I’m very grateful for my time there."
Nketiah added: "I had a wonderful time there and met a lot of lovely people."
