Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah has revealed that he and his teammates will be doing everything they can to put a smile on the supporters' faces once the Premier League returns later this month.
Almost three months have now passed since all elite-level football in England was suspended because of the coronavirus pandemic, which has since brought pain, misery and changes to millions of people's lives.
But it was confirmed last week that the Premier League season, following the Government's decision to allow all competitive sport to return in England from June 1, will resume on June 17, with Arsenal travelling to the Etihad Stadium to face Manchester City as one of the first two matches that will signal the return.
The return of football in England will be like nothing we have ever seen before, with supporters not allowed to attend matches, the disinfecting of footballs being a top priority and face masks being a regular sight.
Despite all of that, Nketiah, who has impressed in an Arsenal shirt after returning from his loan spell at Leeds United back in January, has just one plan: to put a smile back on the fans' faces after a miserable and frustrating past few months because of the pandemic.
"The most important thing is everyone's safety; I think that was the first concern for all of us," Nketiah told Sky Sports.
"For me, it was all about my safety, my family's safety and the people around me. But I think the club and the Premier League have taken such great measures to ensure we are all safe.
"We get tested [for COVID-19] every so often. There is very minimal errors.
"I think to get back out there [playing] and get a routine back is good for all of us. Obviously it is difficult times for us, but hopefully when we get back playing we will be able to put a smile on the fans' faces, even if they are not able to come to the matches.
"I definitely think it is something positive but on the same note I think we all have to continue to abide by the rules and make sure everyone is staying safe and we are looking out for each other.
"That is the most important thing."
Since returning to the Emirates Stadium back in January, the highly-rated forward has scored three times in seven matches in all competitions, as he began to force his way into Mikel Arteta's plans.
