Eddie Nketiah's loan status at Leeds as Marcelo Bielsa gives update on Arsenal loanee's future

Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa has delivered an update on the future of Eddie Nketiah as the Arsenal loanee continues his recovery from injury.

The young striker missed Leeds' last match vs QPR after picking up an abdominal injury, and has been ruled out for the upcoming game against Blackburn Rovers.

Nketiah has made 12 appearances for the Whites this season after signing on a season long loan in the summer, scoring five goals. However, the striker has mainly been used as a substitute in the Championship.

Reports claim that Arsenal have a recall option in Nketiah's loan deal at Ellend Road, and will consider activating it should his game time not increase, but Bielsa has said that that choice could come down to the player.

"I think if he feels comfortable with us, this is key for him to stay or not," he said, as reported by LeedsLive .

He must say it, not me," the Leeds boss added when questioned if Nketiah did feel comfortable.

"We have the same position as when he arrived at Leeds. After leave and share with him, our opinion is better than initially before he arrived here. That was very good."

Bielsa has also given an injury update on the 20-year-old.

"It’s the same I said before. His injury is in his abdomen. Week to week we evaluate the time of recovery," he said,

"Now is one week and they told us one more week to see how he progresses. In the next seven days I will inform you if he is able or must continue to recover."
