Eddie Nketiah red card: Arsenal striker sent off after VAR review vs Leicester

Eddie Nketiah was shown a red card following a VAR review during Arsenal's Premier League clash against Leicester City.

With Arsenal leading 1-0 thanks to a first-half goal from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Nketiah was brought on as a second-half substitute by Mikel Arteta - but his evening didn't last long.

Nketiah was introduced in the 70th minute, but went in hard on Leicester's James Justin in a 50/50 challenge.

Referee Chris Kavanagh initially showed a yellow card to Nketiah, but following a VAR review, Kavanagh consulted the pitchside monitor to review his decision.

The referee only needed to see the replay once or twice before quickly reversing his decision, showing Nketiah a straight red card for serious foul play.

That decision means Nketiah will now miss Arsenal's next three games, including Sunday's north London derby against Tottenham.
