Eddie Nketiah lauded by Ian Wright after Arsenal loanee scores winner for Leeds

Eddie Nketiah scored his first league goal for Leeds in their Championship success over Brentford.

The Arsenal loanee found the net four minutes after entering the fray at Elland Road.

And the goal came in front of the watchful eye of Gunners legend Ian Wright, who lauded the 20-year-old.

Wright was a spectator for the Championship clash and filmed himself celebrating before chanting 'Eddie, Eddie Eddie'.

Nketiah, who joined Leeds on loan from Arsenal this summer, scored his first goal for the club in the EFL Cup against Salford last week.

He has been made to wait for his Championship bow but has now given Marcelo Bielsa a real headache.

Nketiah couldn't have wished for a better opportunity to open his account at Elland Road as he was teed up by Helder Costa.

The victory sees Leeds continue their unbeaten start to the season and return to the top of the Championship table.

It was an unhappy return to Elland Road for former Leeds defender Pontus Jansson.

Brentford skipper Jansson and his team-mates comfortably dealt with what Leeds could throw at them before Bielsa sent on speed kings Nketiah and Helder Costa.

The relief inside Elland Road when Nketiah scored was palpable and the victory ended Leeds’ four-game winless run at home, stretching back to that calamitous defeat to 10-man Wigan on Easter Saturday, which effectively killed their automatic promotion hopes.

Defeat was tough on Thomas Frank’s Bees and they contained Leeds until the introduction of Costa and Nketiah.
