Eddie Nketiah handed first Leeds United league start for Birmingham City clash

Marcelo Bielsa has selected his starting XI for Leeds United's match at Birmingham City, and the big news is Eddie Nketiah has been given his first league start.

Managing director Angus Kinnear recently revealed that the club are looking to convince the 20-year-old Arsenal loanee to stay and this could be one way to do it.

Boxing Day's 1-1 draw with Preston North End threw up no new injury concerns, but Pablo Hernandez and Adam Forshaw remain sidelined, depleting the available options in midfield.

Despite the fixtures coming thick and fast over the festive period, Bielsa has otherwise kept the faith in his ever-presents and not made many further changes.

This is the first time that Patrick Bamford hasn't started a Championship match this season, and he's out of the matchday squad entirely after suffering from a dead leg. He is expected to be available against West Brom on New Year's Day.

Otherwise the starting eleven is unchanged from the side that faced Preston.

Tyler Roberts is back in the squad, coming onto the bench, but Jamie Shackleton isn't back just yet.

Leeds United XI to face Birmingham City: Kiko Casilla; Luke Ayling, Liam Cooper, Ben White, Gjanni Alioski; Kalvin Phillips; Helder Costa, Stuart Dallas, Jack Harrison; Eddie Nketiah

Bench:  Illan Meslier, Oliver Casey, Barry Douglas, Gaetano Berardi, Robbie Gotts, Jordan Stevens, Tyler Roberts
