Eddie Nketiah gives Arsenal supporters an insight into his stunning start at Leeds United

Eddie Nketiah has enjoyed a promising start to life as a Leeds United player.

The 20-year-old is on loan from Arsenal for the season and opened his account for the Whites with the first goal in a 3-0 Carabao Cup win over Salford City last week.

He then followed that up with the winner on his Championship debut against Brentford on Wednesday night, making it two goals in as many appearances for United.

In fact, both of Nketiah's goals in a Leeds shirt have been assisted by Helder Costa - also on loan at Elland Road this season - and the striker has opened up on his effort against Brentford as well as his blossoming relationship with the winger.

"[Mateusz] Klich was running through and obviously I saw Helder making a good run and I knew he had the pace and the awareness to find me," Nketiah told Leeds United.com.

"So I just wanted to keep up with play.

"We're building up a good relationship off the field - me and Helder - so it's good to see it showing on the pitch as well.

"It's just about getting yourself in the right areas," he responded when asked if it was possible to have missed from so close in. "Helder played a brilliant ball so all I had to do was just tap it in.

"But I think it's good to have these relationships so early into the season."

"I had a feeling," Nketiah said when asked if he sensed where Costa was going to put the ball. "It was similar to the goal against Salford - putting it across the face of goal.

"I just tried to be in good position to make it easy for me to score and it was good that it went in and was the winner."

Speaking after the win, Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa had a surprise omission about Nketiah's winner.

"It was something casual," Bielsa said. "It was something very lucky because only sometimes can these things happen.

"Because the skill of coaches is not based on who makes the last pass or who scores the goals."

Carabao Cup second round draw in full

Next up for Leeds and Nkeitah is a trip to Stoke City on Saturday before welcoming the Potters to Elland Road in the Carabao Cup second round three days later.
