Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah says he 'could smell' a mistake from Southampton goalkeeper Alex McCarthy in the lead up to his goal.
The Gunners youngster scored the opener in his side's 2-0 win over the Saints on the South Coast this evening.
Nketiah intercepted a clearance from Southampton keeper McCarthy before beating him to the ball and knocking it into an empty net.
And after the game, the 21-year-old said he could 'smell' a mistake coming from his opponent.
"We work a lot on our high press and we did it really well today," he told Sky Sports.
"I always try to give my all for the team and things like that, I could just smell some uncertainty from the goalkeeper.
"I have done that about 100 times so it is nice that one of them leads to a goal.
"That’s just the way I play. I always try to be a nuisance and chase for the team, try to run in behind.
"The team worked hard together and we were unlucky not to score a few more goals with other chances."

The win was Arsenal's first since the return, the Gunners losing two before finally getting back to winning ways this evening.
"I think it was a very important three points," Nketiah added.
"I think we have been unfortunate, especially in the first game and the last game, the results didn’t go our way, but we knew we had to roll our sleeves up and really fight for the three points.
"Hopefully, we can build on this and keep going forward. We have been working so hard in the quarantine break.
"We needed to reward ourselves with three points so we were focussed and we wanted to get the three points by any means necessary."
