Eddie Nketiah discusses Arsenal's role in his Leeds United loan and Unai Emery's constant texts

Arsenal are keeping a close eye on Leeds United loanee Eddie Nketiah with regular contact and daily texts from boss Unai Emery.

The 20-year-old is away from his parent club for the first time in his burgeoning career, adapting to life away from his London home and looking for support from down south.

The Gunners think highly of the striker, who has more than hit the ground running in West Yorkshire with three goals in four appearances.

Emery has already been on the record with his own reservations about sending Nketiah out on loan because he was so keen to play him at Emirates Stadium.

The first-team chief has been in regular contact with the forward since the loan went through and Nketiah has been pleased to see that support.

“I’m in contact with them really regularly and they always look out for me, see how I’m doing and they constantly text me, the managers and the coaching staff,” he said.

“It’s really nice to have that feeling of home behind you and support and I feel like I’m here to develop and improve as a player.

“I feel like they’re all keen and willing to listen and see how I’m doing, so it’s nice to have that support behind you.”

Naturally, in this modern age of statistics and detailed analysis, there are goals which clubs set their loanees while they are away from their permanent home.

However, Nketiah said he had been set no such targets by the Premier League giants. The player himself has individual goals and is happy with the progress he has made so far.

“I have individual goals I’m trying to work on and improve on in my game, but the main thing for coming here was to get game time and test myself at this level,” he said.

“So far I’ve been happy with how I have adapted to the new style of play, new football and I feel like I’ve had a good start.

“I just want to keep pushing on.”
