Lee Bowyer has said he's doubtful that Charlton will be able to attract Eddie Nketiah to the Valley this seaon.
The Arsenal starlet had been linked with a move to the Addicks after they were promoted to the Championship last term.
Charlton have a strong relationship with the Gunners following the successful loan spell of Krystian Bielik who was a key part of Bowyer's promotion winning side.
While a loan switch for the 20-year-old seemed like a real possibility as they look to guarantee him first team football, Lee Bowyer believes that Eddie Nketiah's form during Arsenal's pre-season tour of America could make it difficult to agree a deal.
Speaking to South London Press , Bowyer said: "It is looking difficult.
“He is in the first-team and doing well in the first-team. I can’t see them letting him out on loan.”
Nketiah made the difference for the Gunners during their 2-1 pre-season victory over Bayern Munich, and speaking after the game the youngster couldn't hide his delight.
He said: "It's brilliant. They're such a great team and it was a great experience to come on.
"I didn't come on for long, so I just wanted to make an impact and do well. Luckily I was in the right place at the right time. I'm grateful."

"I think the play broke down a bit and I saw Tyreece dribbling down the wing," said Eddie. "I just made sure I was in a good position, a central position, and yeah it came to me and I made sure I put it away."
Speaking about his chances of breaking into the first team at Arsenal, Nketiah said: "Pre-season is vital.
"I always try to come back in tip-top shape and do my best. It's a chance. I came on today and I took my chance. That's all I can do.”
