Eddie Jones takes below-the-belt swipe at Warren Gatland

England coach Eddie Jones has aimed a verbal jab at Warren Gatland and Wales.

The 59-year-old took a swipe at the wounded Wales head coach following comments made by Gatland at the International Stadium Yokohama on Sunday.

Gatland had praised England for their performance against the All Blacks and said the Springboks would need to be more expansive to challenge England.

Speaking at the press conference Gatland said: They (South Africa) have the physicality to match England. I thought England were outstanding last night. They have a very good chance.

"They might need to be a bit more expansive. For them it was about making the final. Sometimes teams play in semi-finals and don't always turn up for a final so it will be interesting to see England next week."

The comments seemed to have stung the punchy England coach who immediately bit back.

When Warren's comments were relayed to Jones he replied by saying: “Well, guys, can you just send my best wishes to Warren to make sure he enjoys the third and fourth place play-off.”

The England chief has used his press conferences to put in a few digs this World Cup.

At the start of the tournament he claimed he had been forbidden from speaking to Welsh ref Nigel Owens ahead of England's game with Argentina - despite that fact being a basic Rugby World Cup rule that applied to all teams.
