Eddie Jones calls upon ex-Nottingham Forest hero Roy Keane to inspire England stars ahead of Rugby World Cup

England Rugby Union coach Eddie Jones has called upon Roy Keane to give one of his famous rallying talks in the hope that it will rub off on his players ahead of their upcoming World Cup trip to Japan.

The former Nottingham Forest midfielder is known around the sporting world for his unrivalled passion and hard-man persona from both his playing days and his frequent appearances as a pundit on Sky Sports.

And that was enough for football fan Jones to offer him the chance to gee his players as they prepare for their final warm-up games before embarking on the long flight to Miyazaki - an offer he accepted.

But Keane's decision to make an appearance as England's pre-tournament mentor will not have gone town too well across the Irish sea, especially with his home nation Ireland gearing up to face England at Twickenham on August 24.

Keane left his role as assistant manager on Trentside in June, just a week before boss Martin O'Neill was sacked and replaced by Frenchman Sabri Lamouchi.

Despite stating that he left to pursue role in first-team management, he has so far been unsuccessful in landing one.
