Eddie Jackson: Bears ‘real anxious’ for opener after sitting out preseason

The Bears are almost one week away from their season opener.

After not playing a single snap during preseason games, safety Eddie Jackson can’t wait.

“We have been out of it for a while but we are anxious,” he said after Tuesday’s practice. “We are real anxious right now, you know, we want to play so bad. Just sitting out for preseason is just getting us — you know you got that feeling in your stomach and want to get back to it. So we are definitely all in.”

Jackson, who was a first-team all-pro and first-time Pro Bowl player last year, said the defense is confident in what it can do — even if a lack of in-game preseason snaps has lent an air of mystery to the Bears.

“That is one thing about us, we go out there and we can see it,” he said. “Especially going up against our offense, the type of talent we have on the offensive side of the ball. For us to go out there and compete and do a good job against those guys just shows us we are ready.

“Coach Nagy has been doing great situations in practice by putting us in real--life game situations and just to see how everyone reacts to that. And you see a positive output. It shows everyone’s minds are on one thing.”
