Eddie Howe wasn't offered Celtic 'clear vision' as Parkhead overhaul pinpointed in bombshell snub reasoning

The stunning collapse of Eddie Howe 's move to Celtic is reportedly due to a lack of a "clear vision" at the club.

The Hoops are now pushing ahead with other candidates after their move for the former Bournemouth boss fell apart at the 11th hour.

While Ange Postecoglou looks to be the frontrunner the sudden decision from the Englishman to walk away from the deal in Glasgow's east end has sparked supporter concerns.

The Parkhead club insisted that the reasons for the failure to get the deal over the line was outwith the control of both them and Howe in a statement.

It is understood that Celtic made moves for Howe's potential backroom team including Richard Hughes, Stephen Purches and Simon Weatherstone but some members didn’t didn’t want to move north.

The Athletic now claim that the Parkhead hierarchy were unable to provide Howe with a "clear vision" for the future which impacted on the U-turn.

It is reported that they approached him with more intent in March following Neil Lennon's departure where the idea "appealed to him enormously".

Since then there have been plenty of changes behind the scenes at the Premiership side, with Dominic McKay replacing Peter Lawwell as chief executive and Nick Hammond departing.

The director of football role remains vacant, but Fergal Harkin remains the leading candidate.

However, the changes at the dethroned champions are now claimed to have factored into to the deal falling apart.
