Eddie Howe has revealed he could hear the roar of St James' Park from his hotel room against Brentford.
The Newcastle United head coach was staying at his Quayside hotel during his self-isolation period after suffering with Covid but hopes to be closer to the action against Norwich City for what will be his first official home match.
When asked his thoughts on the type of atmosphere he is expecting when Newcastle play host to the Canaries, Howe said: "I heard against Brentford from my hotel room. That can inspire the players to hopefully turn the corner.
"It was a really unique experience. Something you don't want to experience again, you have no feeling of control because you are so detached from the game."
Expanding on his experience of that crazy 3-3 draw against the Bees, Howe continued: "I could hear a delayed noise when we scored.
"To hear that from so far away you wonder what it would be like if I was actually in the stadium.
"I am looking forward to experiencing that against Norwich. And really trying to get the crowd to help us on and lift the players to a great performance."
Newcastle have not won a game since May but now face the side just above them in the table and have a chance of collecting three much-needed points.
Howe added: "With my experience, it's a little bit of confidence and a little bit of luck that has been missing.
"There are so many games that could have been won. Unfortunately, for whatever reason, we haven't.
"I think if everybody sticks together and the supporters support the team as they did in the last home game we will be OK."
