Pal Owen Coyle reckons Eddie Howe would be a great fit for Celtic - but may be put off the job by structural changes at the club.
Coyle, who became friends with the former Bournemouth during his short-lived spell at Burnley, believes the director of football role would be huge for Howe.
Ex-Turf Moor and Bolton manager Coyle believes Howe would need someone in place with the same football philosophy.
However, he believes the Englishman would introduce an entertaining style of football if the 43-year-old was brought in to Celtic Park.
When asked who should replace Neil Lennon, Coyle told The Celtic Huddle: "It’s a tough question because of the structure.
"I think there are a lot of good candidates there. Eddie Howe is somebody I know well.
"Obviously he came in at Burnley after I had been there, I’ve competed against him, plays very good football, similar to growing up watching Glasgow Celtic.
"Very pleasing on the eye, he knows how to win, he’s young and he’s got a great idea about the game.

"There is a host [of candidates] both foreign and domestic, but really I think it will come down to what the plan is in terms of structure.
"If it was Eddie coming in, and all of a sudden there is a director of football, they have to be on the same wavelength.
"They have to have the same understanding of the game as what Eddie has got.
"It’s all got to tie in together. It’s like putting a jigsaw together. That’s why there has not been a lot said about it just now, there is probably a lot of work going on behind the scenes with Dermot Desmond and so on.
"The key for us as Celtic fans is to get the right people to get back to winning those league title again."
