Eddie Howe to Celtic doubts emerge as done deal suggestions 'extremely premature'

Doubts have emerged over Eddie Howe's potential move to Celtic with suggestions a deal are done being called 'extremely premature'.

The former Bournemouth boss is the favourite for the position at Celtic Park and it was believed he could be announced as early as this week.

He was unlikely to take over in Glasgow until the summer as he took a year out following his exit from the Cherries in August.

But now doubts are growing over whether he will take the Celtic job at all with reports in England suggesting there are a 'number of clubs' interested in taking him on board.

Howe has been out of work since leaving Bournemouth and jumped to the top of the list of many Hoops fans and the club's board to replace Neil Lennon.

The Daily Mail now report that a deal isn't close and he will continue to take his time over any return to management, with it unlikely to be done before the summer.

A representative of Howe's told the

"There has been significant interest in Eddie from a number of clubs. However, talks of any deal being close are extremely premature. His plan remains to not return to management until the summer at the earliest."
