Eddie Howe tells Slavisa Jokanovic to stick by Fulham philosophy in bid to stop the rot

Eddie Howe has told Slavisa Jokanovic to stick to what he believes in when it comes to turning things around at Fulham.

Howe’s Bournemouth were ruthless in their 3-0 win at Craven Cottage on Saturday as a Callum Wilson penalty was followed up by a wonderful breakaway goal from David Brooks and a second confident finish from the English striker.

Fulham remain in the bottom three with just one win from ten games this season. At this stage in Bournemouth’s maiden Premier League campaign, Howe was in a similar spot with just two wins from ten and two consecutive 5-1 defeats against Manchester City and Tottenham.

However, having come up from the Championship playing open, expansive football, Howe says his Serbian counterpart must not waver from his philosophy as he looks to turn the tide.

“It was a difficult time, the first year in the Premier League” Howe told Standard Sport of Bournemouth’s early struggles. “I’m not going to give out advice, it is more for the supporters and the club.

"Fulham got here by playing the way they did in the Championship, which was nice to watch from everybody’s perspective. I enjoyed watching Fulham play.

“Once you have built that style of play, way of doing things, the last thing you want to do is change.”

Up next for Fulham is a perhaps rather unwanted trip to face Manchester City in the League Cup on Thursday before a Monday night clash against relegation rivals Huddersfield.
