Eddie Howe has slapped down Steve Cook after the Bournemouth defender blasted his team after the defeat to Newcastle.
Cook call the display “embarrassing” and said the Cherries “played like kids”.
Bournemouth have now lost six games out of seven – and all three since the resumption – to sit 19th with six games to go.
And Howe, who must take his team to Old Trafford to face in-form Manchester United on Saturday, was furious the club's dirty linen was being aired in public at the crucial time of the season.
“I don't think they are helpful for us,” he said. “I think when you don't perform well, everything needs to be internal. That has always been the way I have worked.
"We keep things in-house and our opinions of ourselves stay that way.
"Now I have a duty when I come to the media to tell the truth in respect of what I think of our performances and I don't think it is healthy to view ourselves or read ourselves in that way.
"I think for the collective good of the group and the club, we know recent performances have not been good enough. We don't need to be too clever to work that out.
"But certainly staying together and staying unified and staying positive which each other vocally is hugely important.
"We can't change the past – we can only change the future. And the only way we are going to do that is stay with each other.”
After the 1-4 Newcastle defeat, Steve Cook said: “We are men in the dressing room but played like kids.
“These performances have been produced all year and something had to be said because it was embarrassing to concede four goals at home.
“Against Newcastle we looked so open as a team it was frightening. Every time we gave the ball away Newcastle looked like scoring."
