Eddie Howe set to make late call on Newcastle United trio ahead of final day Burnley clash

Eddie Howe will make a late call on injured duo Chris Wood and Fabian Schar ahead of the trip to Burnley. Wood, who returns to Turf Moor for the first since his £25million move in January, is recovering from a hip injury and will train today.

Switzerland international Schar went off after a sickening head injury and is a doubt.

Howe said: “We will make a decision on Chris. As we said, it’s not a serious injury but we will see.

“With Fabian we are following concussion protocols."

Howe welcomed back Scotland international Ryan Fraser after a hamstring injury in the 2-0 win over Arsenal at St James’ Park.

But he is a doubt for the clash at Burnley and Howe suggested he would not take any risks, adding: “Ryan has a hamstring injury so we will see.”
